Description:
Built between 1836 and 1842, the neo-classic stone mansion is a elegant country living in the early 19th-centruy.
Interpreted as a house museum, Bartow-Pell is maintained and administered by the International Garden Club, Inc. The exterior and surrounding 9 acres of land belong to and are cared for by the City of New
York. The restored carriage house is contemporary with the mansion.
Collections: 19th-century
American decorative arts and furnishings, sleigh bed by Charles Honore Lannuier, an important 19th-century French émigré cabinet maker.

Description: The Bronx Historical Society administers The Bronx County Archives, a Research Library, The Museum of
Bronx History (Valentine-Varian House) and the Edgar Allan Poe Cottage. Its purpose is to stimulate interest in and appreciation for the heritage of the Bronx.
Collections: The Society owns and maintains an object collection of over 20,000 items relating to Bronx history. It
includes tools, textiles, armaments, furnishings, glass & ceramics, prints, paintings and maps. Newspapers on microfilm (1907-present) and atlas. Photographs and slides including a rare glass negative collection
of the Bronx from 1880-1915, postcards and audio cassettes, video cassette collections of lectures.

Description: The organization is dedicated to the collection, preservation and display of artifacts in the City
Island Nautical Museum. The first floor of the landmark school building (P.S. 17), built in 1897, is devoted to the museum.

Description: Poe Cottage: In 1846 Poe moved to a wooden cottage in the village of Fordham where he wrote some of his famous works. In 1913, the cottage was moved to its present location and restored to look as it did in Poe’s lifetime. It’s owned by the City of New York & administered by the Bronx County Historical Society. The Museum of Bronx History: Located in the 1758 fieldstone Valentine-Varian House, the Museum presents permanent (10 period rooms) & changing exhibitions illustrating the heritage of the Bronx.

Description:
The Hall of Fame is a 630 ft long open-air colonnade lined with 98 bronze busts of historically significant Americans. It was the nations first Hall of Fame and was designed by Stanford White.
Collections: 98 bronze busts by noted artists such as Daniel Chester French, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, James Earle
Fraser, and Anna Hyatt Huntington. Records of some of the Hall of Fame elections, old brochures, pamphlets from previous induction ceremonies.
Some historic period photographs have been scanned digitally and burned onto CDs.

Programs: Guided tours for school groups and students. Occasional photography/historical exhibits in the rotunda of
the Gould Memorial Library. Group guided tours are available by appointment, self-guided tours are available daily, 10-5.

Description:
Located in the Norman and Adele Morris Wing of RiverWalk overlooking the Hudson River on the campus of The Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale. The museum houses the Ralph and Leuba Baum collection of over 800 Jewish ceremonial objects.
Collections: Objects reflecting the customs and ceremonies of European and Oriental Jewry over the last three
centuries: objects of silver, gold, pewter, brass, ivory, wood and rare embroidered textiles; Library of books relating to Judaica, some dating back to the 16th century.
