TO CELEBRATE REGIONAL RECIPIENTS OF
2007 AWARDS TOWARDS EXCELLENCE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lower Hudson Conference of Historical Agencies & Museums (LHC) will hold its Annual Meeting

Museums and their collections, the afternoon portion will honor 10 recipients of the 22nd
Annual Historical Services Awards Towards Excellence.
Lower Hudson Conference's Awards Program seeks to recognize and commend exceptional efforts among LHC members. Awards are made to
projects and organizations that exemplify creativity and professional vision resulting in a contribution of preservation and interpretation of the historic scene, material culture and diversity of the region. 2007 awards will be
presented on October 12th to:
CLINTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY & MICHAEL ASBILL, Clinton Corners,
NY (Dutchess) for the exhibition Picturing Clinton Then and Now, a creative
exhibit using lenticular photographic prints to bring the past and present into direct contact.
HARNESS RACING MUSEUM & HALL OF FAME, Goshen, NY (Orange)
for the exhibition, A Drive to Win, celebrating the dedication and determination of drivers and trainers who strive to succeed.
THE HEBREW HOME AT RIVERDALE, Riverdale, NY (Bronx), for the brochure, The Art Collection at The Hebrew Home at Riverdale. The clear,
concise, well-designed brochure, highlighting the permanent art collection, brings the public to a unique venue for art and history.
HUDSON HIGHLANDS NATURE MUSEUM, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY
(Orange) for the "Discovery Quest" guide books which promote knowledge and appreciation of the natural world, environmental stewardship and
encourage the public to explore the hiking trails in the Hudson Valley region.
PUTNAM COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY & THE FOUNDRY SCHOOL MUSEUM, Cold Spring, NY (Putnam) for the exhibition catalog, This
Perfect River-View: the Hudson River School and Contemporaries in Private Collections in the Highlands, an elegant, scholarly treatment of an important body of rarely seen art.
ROCKEFELLER ARCHIVE CENTER; MARAGRET HOGAN & BETHANY ANTOS, Sleepy Hollow, NY (Westchester) for the exhibit, Extraordinary
Visions, Enduring Voices: Women in the Rockefeller Archive Center. The exhibit achieved three goals: to highlight the diversity of the Rockefeller
Archive Center's holdings; to draw attention to underutilized collections; to raise awareness of the important work of women within often male-dominated organizations whose records are housed at the Center.
SOMERS HISTORICAL SOCIETY, Somers, NY (Westchester) for
Devoted to History-An Oral History of Florence Oliver, Somers Town Historian, a
unique video that merges personal, cultural and regional history into an oral history format.
SOMERS HISTORICAL SOCIETY, Somers, NY (Westchester) for the
Elephant Hotel on Review, Commemorative Poster, a poster that perpetuates
a collaborative effort to creatively reinterpret an historic site and the history of the Elephant Hotel as a National Landmark..
TIME AND THE VALLEY'S MUSEUM, Grahamsville, NY (Sullivan) for
Voices from the Valleys, a CD recording the voices of 11 surviving citizens
whose stories capture the history of the drowned villages that resulted from the coming of the New York City reservoir system.
WALDEN HISTORICAL SOCIETY, Walden, NY (Orange) for the public
program, WWI Canteen and USO Show that drew together veterans, community leaders and the general public in a manner reminiscent of the
original volunteer spirit of these shows with exhibits, costumed theatricals and musical interpretations.
