Spring Handling History Seminar: Monday, April 24, 2006
HANDLING and EXAMINING PAINTINGS, SURFACES, BACKINGS and HISTORIC FRAMES --II
In cooperation with and hosted by The National Park Service / Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Sites, Hyde Park, NY.
10 am - 4 pm at Bellefield , 497 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park

SEMINAR FACULTY: Presenting morning and afternoon slide lectures, with opportunity for demonstration and dialogue.
10 am - 12 noon: Alexander Katlan, Paintings Conservator, Alexander Katlan Conservator, Inc.
1:00 - 3:00 pm: Suzanne Smeaton, Managing Director, Eli Wilner & Co., NYC.
Registration is open to staff, board members and volunteers of museums, historical societies, historic sites, libraries and collecting cultural
institutions who steward and care for paintings. Fine arts collectors and artists who want to update their understanding of conservation standards for paintings care & examination, research, or pairing of
paintings with their original frames, are most welcome to join our colleagues from the field.
Luncheon in the Bellefield garden (weather permitting) 12:00 - 1
pm, is included in your registration fee.
A behind-the-scenes tour of Vanderbilt Mansion will be offered by
Curatorial staff at the conclusion of the seminar program (3-4 pm).
